A little
about me: I grew
up in Gonzales, Louisiana, graduated high school from St Amant
High, home of the Gators. Enlisted in the Air Force in 1990 after
High school, and been serving on active duty every since. I have
been all over the world, some places only worth visiting once.
Every since I can remember the water has called
my name, rather it be catching crawfish in the swamps with the
mud between my toes or fishing for pan fish and catfish on the
Amite River, with trips to the Atchafalaya Basin, Lake Verette,
Bayou Corn, and Bell River just to name a few. Not much bass fishing
when I was growing up, most fish were caught and consumed. It's
that way for my children, though they probably don't dream
of being on the water as I do, they do love to get out when the
weather is good. If you want a un forgettable fun experience, put
3 boys in a boat at the same time and go fishing. My wife usually
gets to sit back laughing at me running from one end to the other
baiting hooks that's after I catch the crickets that have
gotten out of the cage. Those memories stick in my mind long after
the day is done, sometimes days or weeks later. Why is that? Nothing
like looking over and seeing a cricket that escaped being a meal
crawl out from under the deck or console. Knowing where it came
from and the fun time we had, puts a smile on my face every time.
Though, the cricket might feel a little differently. My wife also
volunteers to be the photographer, I'm not baiting my own
hook comes to mind, but she will be the first to let you know she
caught the first bass on a rattle trap out of the Skeeter when
it was new, I'll never live that one down !!
I didn't start tournament angling until the military brought
me to North Carolina. It has become my passion. I usually get on
the water 2-3 times a week when I am not deployed. Even when I
am not on the water, I spend a lot of time wishing I was.
My family and sponsors are the reason I can get out and accomplish
things on and off the water. Family is an important part of my
life, without them I couldn't accomplish anything; the encouragement
they have given and sacrifices they have made is unbelievable.
Sponsors are a big part of my life also. I am a firm believer
in promoting their products, which comes easy for me because I
use them on and off the water. The products speak for itself. I
never have to worry about performance, which in my opinion sometimes
gives me an edge on the competition.
